RIYADH — Senior librarian Dr. Riaz Chaudhary hosted an Eid Milan session at his residence here organized by Halqa e Fikr O Funn. Head of Chancery Pakistan Embassy Abbas Sarwar Qureshi was the chief guest whereas a prominent visiting poetess from Lahore, Shahnaz Muzammil, and social personality of Riyadh Sajida Chaudhary were the guests of honor. The session commenced with the recitation of few verses of Holy Qur'an by the host Dr. Riaz Chaudhary followed by his welcome note and Hamd O Naat by Abdul Razzaq Tabbasum and Abbas Sarwar Qureshi respectively. The proceedings of the literary session was gracefully conducted by the veteran poet and writer Javid Akhtar Javid, head of Halqa e Fikr O Funn. Javid presented one of his famous poem “Takhleeq” (Creation) followed by an essay highlighting the poetry works of Shahnaz Muzammil. Shahnaz in her unique style presented some famous quatrains of her poetry and a special poem for women. She also talked about the works and achievements of Adab Saraee (A literary organization of Lahore) headed by her. Noted poets of Riyadh Abdul Razzaq Tabbasum and Waqar Naseem Wamiq enthralled the audience with their poetry in Punjabi and Urdu respectively. Abdul Razzaq Tabbasum was awarded a medal of appreciation by Adab Saraee for his remarkable poetry works. Shahnaz Muzammil, chairperson of Adab Saraee, and Abbas Qureshi, Head of Chancery Pakistan Embassy, jointly presented the medal to Tabbasum. Abbas identified the literary session organized by the Halqa e Fikr O Funn as an oasis in a desert. “Literature is the foundation of life. It connects an individual with the larger society. The literary sessions are extremely important because they expose the participants to new experiences which are necessary for expanding their horizons,” Abbas added. Rashid Butt of PML-N, Riaz Rathore of PPP, Tasadduq Gillani of Bazm e Riaz, Sajida Chaudhry of Needs & Style, Naveed Ahmed of Jhelum Live, Ijaz Butt and Sarwar Khan of Majlis-e-Pakistan praised the literary efforts of Halqa e Fikr O Funn. The Eid Milan literary session ended with a sumptuous dinner.
