Waqar Naseem Wamiq RIYADH — “Ramadan unites people together in various forms and its blessings are countless,” stated visiting scholar from Pakistan Prof. Ghulam Sarwar Qureshi recently here. He made this statement during in an interactive session that followed an Iftar dinner hosted by Tasadduq Gillani, general secretary of Bazm e Riaz, at his residence here. Prof. Qureshi recalled some golden moments of his life and provided his audience a chance to learn from his experiences. He emphasized the countless bounties in Ramadan through personal glimpses, while rounding off with a maxim. “There was a man and they called him a fool for his action of giving; but the more he gave, the more he had,” said Qureshi. Shafiq Khawaja, a senior member of Bazm e Riaz, also hosted another Iftar dinner at Marhaba restaurant attended by a select gathering of people including Sarhan Mustafa, Naqi Hassan, Waqar Wamiq, Saleem Masoud, Imran Shah, Tasadduq Gillani and Riaz Rathore. Bazm e Riaz is a Riyadh-based literary and intellectual forum of artists, writers and thinkers headed by Riaz Rathore, a well known community figure among the Pakistanis in Riyadh. “Our Bazm is for all those remarkable people from whom we can learn and for all those who can make a difference to build a better society,” Rathore added.
