MAKKAH — The Directorate of Health Affairs here said all the medical staff and workers responsible for leaving the corpse of a 12-year-old girl to rot in the emergency room of King Faisal Hospital will be held accountable. Spokesman Abdulwahab Shalabi was quoted by Al-Hayat that the girl, an illegal resident, was brought to the hospital over a week ago and was pronounced dead upon arrival. The person who brought her to the hospital left her and never came back. The doctors on call that day examined the girl and found her dead. They also noticed that she had some congenital deformities and did not have on her any official ID. The corpse was discovered after a stench emanated from one of the rooms. An urgent committee was formed at the behest of Health Affairs Director Dr. Mustafa Baljoon to investigate the case and find out how the girl's corpse was left in the emergency unit for five days. The result of the investigations will be announced once the committee completes its tasks, Shalabi said. The directorate contacted Al-Qararah District Police station superintendent and requested him to take all legal measures with the forensic doctor. Accordingly, the police have launched an exhaustive investigation into the case. The hospital's management went over the surveillance camera videos that showed that the girl was brought over to the hospital in a silver-color Corolla on July 13. The doctors performed cardiovascular resuscitation on her but to no avail. The case was reported to the police to find the person who dropped her off at the hospital and disappeared and find out if the girl died from natural causes or was killed.
