The Directorate of Health Affairs here are investigating a medical malpractice complaint filed against the hospital staff of a private hospital. The staff have been accused of negligence in the case of a patient who suffered from high fever. The patient's brother filed the complaint. According to the complaint, the man brought his sick brother to the private hospital for treatment. The staff accepted his brother and he was asked to pay an examination fee. After waiting for 15 minutes, a doctor examined his brother and wrote a prescription. The brother's condition worsened and he fell off the hospital bed. At this point, the man alleges that the hospital staff refused to do anything and fled to the women's section of the hospital, according to a report in Al-Watan newspaper. “I told the doctor that my brother was suffering a high fever and his body was shivering. However, the doctor and the nursing staff neglected his case. My brother fell down from the bed and suffered a fit but the medical staff did not provide any aid and the nurses stood and watched the situation and then fled to the women's section.” The patient's brother says he washed his brother's head with water and took him in his car to King Faisal Hospital where he received the necessary treatment in the Emergency Room.
