JEDDAH — The Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution has forwarded the case of the man accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl to the penal court, Al-Hayat reported. A source from the bureau said the case was thoroughly investigated and the victim was called in to testify against the assaulter. “The assaulter is in his 30s and the victim is 9. The man lives in the same apartment building as the little girl and he would allegedly meet her by the staircase and attempt to cuddle her. He tried to rape the girl but she managed to escape and told her mother,” the source said. The source added that during investigations, the bureau found out other incidents of unreported sexual harassment and assault with other victims. “The incident was not the first time the assaulter harassed children. He had previous unreported accounts of the act. The victim's testimony and the previous accounts are what led the bureau to forward his case to the Jeddah Penal Court,” said the source. The source added the case was filed by the victim's father and he was present during all the interrogation sessions to hear the man's defense. “He was also present when his daughter testified against him. The father reported his daughter was harassed and assaulted by the culprit several times. The father wants nothing but to see the death sentence for the assaulter,” said the source. The source also said the father accused the assaulter of attempting to rape his daughter, traumatizing her and her family for life and endangering the neighborhood.
