The Attorney General has described as “lenient” a sentence of three years' prison and 500 lashes for a man who sexually abused his own daughter while under the influence of drugs. The prosecutor said that Tuesday's court ruling was not in proportion to the severity of the crime, with witnesses including the victim's sister testifying to the repeated rape of the girl to the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution. The sister also said that her father changed character considerably following a divorce from her mother, citing aggressive behavior as well as drug and alcohol addiction. The court is now scheduled to review the case after Ramadan.
