MAKKAH — Municipal officials on Monday shut down a warehouse where fake Zamzam water was being bottled and sold. Mamdouh Iraqi, director of Makkah Municipality, said they seized 1,150 bottles of fake Zamzam from the facility. “We give utmost priority to the safety of residents and the pilgrims. The municipality works hard to prevent any harmful items reaching consumers,” said Iraqi. He added that the municipality welcomed the cooperation of the general public in this regard. “Whoever sees any violations is encouraged to report them to the municipality via our call center immediately. We take every complaint seriously. Many try to sell fake Zamzam to foreigners who are unaware of the local regulations, seeing them as an easy target,” said Iraqi.
