MAKKAH — New teachers employed in the Kingdom will be placed on probation for two years instead of the present one year, the Ministry of Education announced recently. The ministry has also lengthened its provisional teacher training period in compliance with the recommendations of the Council of Civil Service. “Candidates who do not pass the trial period get their pension savings refunded, keep their employee funds and are exempted from receiving any bonuses,” said a source at the ministry. He added that teachers will not be eligible to be transferred during the trial period. “All employment matters including resignation and transference must be done through the ministry's Employees' Affairs General Directorate. Candidates who pass the interview proceeding the trial period must submit a medical report within a week. Any delays will automatically lead to a termination of the application,” he added.
