JEDDAH — Director General of Prisons Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi has disclosed that the directorate is implementing a strategic plan to develop prisons in all regions of the Kingdom to provide inmates with facilities conforming to international standards. Al-Hamzi said 13 new reformatories are being constructed at a total cost of SR5.2 billion. Four Class A category reformatories have been inaugurated in Riyadh and Jeddah. Efforts are under way to transfer prisoners to them. A reformatory in Taif is nearly 90 percent complete and work at another reformatory in Dammam is 63 percent complete. Nine Class B reformatories are being constructed in Jazan, Najran, Abha, Qassim, Madinah, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Arar respectively.
