TABUK — Border Guards foiled an attempt to smuggle 114,000 amphetamine pills into the Kingdom on the back of a camel on Tuesday. Tabuk Border Guards official spokesman Maj. Gen. Mohammad Al-Ghamdi said the guards spotted a man at the border with a camel. When they searched the bags strapped to the camel's back, they found the amphetamine pills. The smuggler was arrested and the amphetamine pills were seized. A few days ago, Customs officials at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah foiled an attempt to smuggle 1.7 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside the stomach of an expatriate passenger. This is the largest quantity of cocaine seized by Saudi Customs, according to officials. An X-ray examination showed that the passenger had swallowed 150 capsules containing cocaine. Head of Customs Department at the airport Muhammad Al-Aqeel said Customs officials are well-trained to foil such smuggling attempts.
