RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry products from three Turkish provinces – Kastamonu, Balikesir and Manisa — following the discovery of bird flu cases there. In a statement released on its website, www.sfda.gov.sa, SFDA said it has exempted poultry meat, eggs and their byproducts that have been treated thermally from the temporary ban. Products that have received treatment for bird flu should have an accompanying certificate, which should be issued by the concerned authorities in Turkey. The ban will continue until bird flu is eradicated from the affected regions.
