RIYADH – Saudi authorities banned the import of Palestinian poultry following a new outbreak of bird flu in West Bank, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Saudi Food and Drugs Authority (SFDA) said the temporary ban covers chicken, table eggs and other bird products. It however said chicken and related products treated thermally or by any other means to rule out the presence of the avian flu virus are exempted from the ban. The ban will continue until the situation returns to normal in the Palestinian territories, SFDA said. In another development, the SFDA said it seized more than 10 tons of expired meat, grains and spices from two warehouses in Jeddah and Dammam. The warehouse in Jeddah was located in Al-Nakheel District while the one in Dammam was in Al-Khaldiah. — SG/SPA
