Riyadh — The Golden Telangana Welfare Association NRIs marked the first anniversary of the formation of Telangana state, along with NRIs from the region. Many NRIs from different parts of Telangana gathered here to take part in the celebrations with fervor. The program started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Syed Monza Ali. President Taher Bin Jaffer welcomed the gathering and highlighted the activities and services of the association. He said that the organization helped many from Telangana in Riyadh. He also announced the launch of Ramadan package in which the package of food grains and iftar commodities would be distributed among the poor and needy Muslims in Telangana. Patron Mohammed Rafeeq stressed on the necessity to create awareness among the people of other states about the rich culture and traditions of Hyderabad. He shared several important historical aspects about the historical monuments of Hyderabad. He also said that the Nizam, contributed a lot in promotion of art and culture in other states of the country. Talking about Osmania University he said it is one of their (Nizam's) many contributions. It is known as mother of all universities. Another patron Mohammed Shabaz Farooqui shed light on the performance of the newly formed organization during the past two months. He said that within a short span of few months this association has contributed tremendously to society. They helped more than hundred people from Telangana in obtaining jobs in Riyadh. He added that Bin Jaffer and his team helped many families back home by providing medical and other aid. Syed Mozzam Ali assured all that the group would provide all possible help and support to this association and said he is always ready to help needy people. Mohammed Quaiser, President Tanzeem Hum Hindustani, Mohammed Zia ul Rahman, coach table tennis, Mir Mohsin Ali, and Amaan ur Rahman, table tennis player were honored by GTWA NRI's. Golden Telangana Welfare Association NRI's also felicitated their patrons Mohammed Rafeeq, Shabaz Farooqui and Syed Mozzam Ali. While delivering the keynote address, Edris Ahmed Fareedi highlighted the overall growth and scientific development during the Nizam dynasty. He added that politics and strong roots of democracy boost development. Without strong basis, it leads to cultural discrimination, racism and corruption damaging the heritage of development in the state by large the country. Edris also said that the Telangana government should look after the problems of NRIs living in the Gulf countries. “We not only dedicate our lives for the wellbeing of our families but also contribute, in our own way, in growth and development of the state and the country by sending huge foreign exchange. “Instead of recognition and appreciation of our sacrifices what we get in return is nothing, while many take advantage of us by demanding huge capitation fees and donations for admissions of our children in various colleges. Being an NRI we are neglected in all forms of facilities.” Indian sweets were served to the audience at the venue and later at the popular Indian meeting point in Hia Al-Wazarat area, which is considered as the backyard of the Hyderabadi community living here. A pink colored cake reflecting the rich colors of Telangana was dedicated to the development and bright future of the Telangana state.
