Samsung Gear VR for S6 brings virtual reality closer as never imagined
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 06 - 2015

SAMSUNG Electronics' innovative solutions set the tone for mobile VR with the introduction of the state of the art Samsung Gear VR powered exclusively by the Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge, which delivers a completely new immersive experience never seen before by surrounding the user with 2-D & 3-D 360-degree video, photos and games. This innovative long awaited powerful headset is now available in Saudi Arabia.

KeeWon Park, General Manager, Samsung Electronics KSA, said: “The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge's amazing Amoled screen and processor combined with the power of Oculus technology deliver an ultra-fast, ultra-smooth and ultra-immersive experience for consumers. Together, Samsung and Oculus have pushed the limits of mobile virtual reality technology to make you feel like you are really there, in the experience.”

“The Gear VR for S6 & S6 edge brings out amazing virtual reality anywhere, transforming Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge into an unparalleled video-watching or game-playing experience anytime, anywhere. Simply snap a Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge into the headset, and dive into a plethora of virtual reality experiences,” Park remarked.

Its Anti-fog System means no need to wipe the lenses, even after using the device for extended periods as an internal cooling fan circulates air to prevent the lenses from fogging.

Besides, it offers unrivaled, complete immersion as the S6's high-resolution stereoscopic view lets the user take on virtual reality with more depth. The pixel density has increased by 11% to 577 PPI compared with 518 PPI for Galaxy Note 4 which reduced the screen door effect, thereby providing a deeply immersive viewing experience.

The persistent head-tracking with low persistence allows a smooth 360 degree experience with reduced motion blur. 2D or 3D movies can be switched to cinema, multi-screen and Home Theater for more excitement and engagement.

Moreover, the pass-through option allows users to see the real world with the phone's rear camera while using VR. Its VR notifies the user of incoming calls and messages so they can always be aware of surrounding happenings.

For VR games, Gear VR for S6 & S6 edge takes video gaming to a completely new level with fully-immersive virtual reality that tracks your head motion so users feel like they are actually inside the game.

Samsung Gear VR for S6 & S6 edge is easy to use with a touchpad control, dedicated back button, and a USB port for supplemental VR accessories and power. Third party game controllers with Bluetooth 3.0 class 2 that support Android devices are also compatible.

It has an extended usage time and can be charged via the external Micro USB port. — SG
