The online singing competition which gave thousands of fans a chance to meet and sing with Arabic superstar, Nancy Ajram, live on stage drew to a dramatic close at the “Huawei Be The Star” final event as well as a chance to win Huawei devices weekly Talented Lebanese teacher Farah Chakhachiro was selected by a panel of judges and crowned “Huawei Be The Star” winner as well as $25,000 worth of gold. Through this campaign Huawei, in cooperation with the brand ambassador, aims to leverage its engagement with communities in the MENA region, as well as encouraging talents across the region to reveal the superstar within themselves. In front of a crowd of 200 people, including local influencers and socialites, five competitors took to the stage to sing for their chance to be crowned “Huawei Be The Star” winner. In a surprise twist, an additional contestant was invited to perform for Nancy Ajram, the principle and the judges – Vice President Ashraf Fawakherji and Vice President. Sandeep Saihgal. The lucky singer was ten years old Arzu from Azerbaijan who lives in the UAE.
Despite her young age and her lack of understanding of Arabic, Arzu gave an outstanding performance to the crowd as her excitement to perform in front of the source of her inspiration, Nancy Ajram shone through. Even though she won the hearts of the judges, nothing could compare with the beautiful rendition from Lebanese teacher Farah Chakhachiro.
Sharing her passion for the competition, Nancy Ajram said: “It was an honor to be able to discover the incredible talent from across the region in “Huawei Be The Star” and to be able to sing alongside these young musicians. I was moved by the standard of all of the participants, and would like to express my congratulations once more to Farah for her outstanding performance. Well done to all finalists!”
