Abbasi, Naeem dazzle with tons

JEDDAH — Mazhar Abbasi of Al-Saudi-XI and Naeem of Ralco excelled with centuries in the Modern Pioneer Cup, organized by Western Province Cricket Associaion (WPCA) and sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company.
In the first match, Cousin-XI had the better of Mercedes by 3 runs. Cousin-XI piled up 147 for 5 as Adil made 29, Khurram 52 in 32 balls and Irfan 30. Amer took 2-29. Mercedes Benz fell short of 3 runs after making 144 for 6. Jabran scored 65 in 45 balls and Ilyas 16. The two added 79 for the first wicket. Azhar contributed 19. Zahid grabbed 4 for 24 and Aquil 2.
Emper Perfumes humbled New Young Stars by 73 runs. Emper Perfumes racked up 191 for 7 through Usman Amjad (38), Babar (39), Usman Jani (33), Sajjad Baba (23) and Khadim (26). Sabir took 2-41.
New Young Stars replied with 118 for 8. Amir scored 23 and Shahzad 20. Usman Jani took 3-24.
QRCC defeated Jeddah Royals by 51 runs. QRCC piled up 173 for 6. Skipper Saleem Shaikh hammered 44 and Zahid 40. They added 84 runs. Sadiq Memon made 29 and Amer 36 not out. Imtiyaz and Azhar claimed 2 wickets each. Jedah Royals was restricted to 122 for 5. Tahir stroked 22, Sohail 20, Ali 21 and Azhar unbeaten 20.
Al-Saudi-XI crushed Zamil Cool Care by 10 wickets. Zamil Cool Care tallied 141 for 8. Mazhar scored 29 and Pramod 46. Adil claimed 4 for 28 and Abbas 2. Al-Saudi-XI got to 142 for no loss in just 46 balls as Mazhar Abbasi blasted an unbeaten 137 in 40 balls with 6 sixes and 22 fours. In company of Nadeem (4) he produced 142.
Jeddah Challengers edged past Rising Stars by 49 runs. Jeddah Challengers plundered 180 for 5 as Rizwan made 30, Omer 56 with 10 fours and a six, Abubaker 23 and Abdulaziz 36 not out. Imran took 3-28. Rising Stars was restricted to 131 for 9. Arfan hit 27, Abdulwahab 33 and Imran 24. Akram took 3-16 and Rizwan 2.
Harasco Baroom, after winning five matches on a trot, crashed to Stallions by 4 wickets. Harasco Baroom posted 134 for 3 through Hasanat (56 in 52 balls) and Manzoor (52 not out in 38 balls). Hassan Ali got 2-15.
Hassan Ali made 17, Danish 25, Abdulraheem 39 and Fawad 20 to bring glory to their team by upsetting the favorite. Naveed Sulehria took 3-31 and Fahad Sulaiman 2.
Mazroi prevailed over Hanifa Tigers by 42 runs. Mazroi-XI put on 157 for 5 as Farrukh top scored with an unbeaten 85 with 7 hits to the ropes and Mohsin hit 21. Ashiq took 2-31. In reply, Hanifa Tigers managed 115 for 9. Jawwad top scored with 43. Farhan claimed 3-18.
Ralco defeated Star-XI by 54 runs. Ralco plundered 208 for 6 as Naeemullah hammered 109 in 54 balls with 18 fours and a six and Badar hit 65 in 39 balls. Waqas and Shangaz claimed 2 wickets each.
Star-XI replied with 154 for 7. Shams contributed 31, Ali Akbar 18, Hameed 18 and Abdulwahab 23 not out. Tanveer claimed 3-22 and Sajid 2-14. Tata Motors was declared winner against Johnson Control.
