Saleh Fareed Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — As part of its 83rd anniversary celebration, Egypt Air, the national flag carrier of Egypt, honored local travel agents in Jeddah at a gala award ceremony held in Jeddah InterContinental hotel for their contribution to the rapid growth of the airline across the Kingdom. With the attendance of a large number of guests attended the event, including Egyptian Consul General Adel El-Alfy, Saudi officials of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, travel industry executives, diplomats, and members of the press, to commemorate the anniversary and honor the agencies. Presenting the awards on behalf of Egyptair was Ahmed Shahin, general manager of Egypt Air in Saudi Arabia. At the event travel agents were recognized for their contribution to driving passenger traffic and to announce expansion plans of the airline, underlining the growth momentum that the national flag carrier of Egypt reports across Saudi Arabia. During his speech, Midhat Al Jazar , Jeddah Operation Manager, highlighted the expansion stages of the first airline in the Middle East and Africa and 7th established airline in the world. “Throughout the past eight decades of operations, and in support of its network expansion, EGYPTAIR has been continuously developing its fleet with modern passenger and cargo aircraft,” he said. The general manager of Egypt Air in Saudi Arabia also announced plans for the airline's continued expansion. — SG
