RIYADH – Joyriders now face jail term, fine and confiscation of the vehicle, according to amendments in the Traffic Law approved by the Shoura Council on Tuesday. The Council session, chaired by its President Sheikh Abdullah Al-Asheikh, approved amendments to articles 2, 9 and 60 of the law in this regard. According to the amendments, those who engage in stunt driving for the first time will be fined up to SR10,000 or jail term for two to six months or both, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Penal action will also be taken against those who assist joyriders through cash or kind or encourage them to engage in the illegal activity. They will be fined SR1,500 or their vehicle will be confiscated for 15 days or of both.
