RIYADH — The Shoura Council approved on Monday a regulation to levy a SR1,000 fee for the issuance and extension of seasonal and temporary visas. The fee will be collected in the Kingdom and deposited in the state treasury, said Muhammad Al-Amr, secretary general of the Council. The Council, chaired by its President Sheikh Abdullah Al-Asheikh, endorsed an amendment in the Royal decree, which was issued more than six years ago. It approved the draft law for seasonal and temporary visas after reviewing the viewpoints of the committee for administration and human resources. The draft law, which consists of 19 Articles, was read out by Dalal Al-Harbi, chairman of the committee. According to the law, the visa holder can enter the Kingdom for doing temporary jobs single or multiple times for a maximum period of one year. The visas will be issued for certain specific jobs other than the jobs during the Haj season. Several members suggested that the seasonal and temporary visas should not be restricted to the Haj season only. They also demanded that labor offices in each province should be given authority to take a decision on the jobs to be classified under seasonal categories.
