RIYADH — The residence statuses of 1,743 Yemenis illegally living in the Kingdom have been corrected since the launch of an amnesty on Sunday, said Lt. Col. Ahmed bin Fahad Al-Lihaidan, official spokesman for the Directorate General of Passports. 1,148 illegal Yemenis corrected their resident statuses on Tuesday alone. The amnesty will continue until July 7 and is open to Yemenis illegally in the Kingdom since before April 9. Meanwhile, the Yemeni Consulate issued over 12,000 travel documents to Yemenis over the past five days, said Ahmed Saeed Numaan, deputy Yemeni consul in Jeddah. He added that about 20,000 Yemenis are visiting the consulate each day which remains open from 5 am to midnight. Tayseer Al-Mofarij, spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, said all jobs within the private sector are open to Yemenis except those in the education, engineering and health sectors which require the approval of their relevant authorities.
