RIYADH — The process for Yemeni nationals to correct their residential status in the Kingdom will be firstly limited to those held in deportation centers among those not wanted for crimes. Maj. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Yahya, director general of the Directorate General of Passports, said people wishing to correct their residential status need their passports, medical results, letters from the Yemeni consulate and Saudi sponsors in person. Applicants will be required to bring a complete form, three passport size photos and a SR222 certified check payable to the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA). Col. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Hossain, spokesman for the Directorate General of Passports, said all Yemenis who have been illegally resident in the Kingdom before April 9 can avail of the opportunity. He said the correction will also include children who have entered the Kingdom with their parents. “Every Saudi is allowed to sponsor five Yemenis and every commercial establishment can also sponsor the same number or about 12 percent of their existing manpower, whichever is more,” he said. Health Minister Khaled Al-Falih has also directed all private hospitals and health centers to offer Yemenis the required medical tests starting Sunday and to send the results to the Interior Ministry. Illegal Yemeni nationals in the Kingdom will be issued with six-month renewable visit visas which would also allow them to work in the private sector.
