DAMMAM — A three-day national scouts camp organized with the support of the Saudi Scouts Center successfully concluded with a colourful “Camp Fire” in the presence of top officials from the Ministry of Education and the Saudi Scouts Center. A total of 225 Boy Scouts from International Indian Schools in Jeddah, Tabuk, Jubail and Dammam attended the camp. The theme of the camp was “Service to Humanity” and the slogan “Peace Patience, and Perseverance”. Various activities aimed at inculcating the attitude of service in young minds were on the agenda. The squadron was divided in to different groups and trained in various life skills.
E.K. Mohammed Shaffe, Scouts commissioner and principal of IIS Dammam; Syed Hameed, training commissioner and principal of IIS Jubail; Syed Masood, principal of IIS Jeddah and regional commissioner; S.M. Samshuddin, principal of IIS Tabuk and regional commissionner; and Lt. Col. J.A. Rocque, organizing commissioner and principal In-charge, IIS Dammam, were the organizing officers of the camp.
Professor K.P. Sahad from AIWA College, University of Calicut, and Badr M. Al-Howail of Saudi Scouts Center, were the resource persons and main speakers in different sessions.
The highlight event of the camp – the Camp Fire – was memorable with the active participation of Saudi Boy Scouts. Awad Al-Maliki, deputy director of foreign and parallel education, was the chief guest and Tahir, chairman of IIS Jubail, was the guest of honour.
The Camp Fire was attended by the members of the managing committee of IIS Jubail aas well as Naushad Ali and Alamgir Islam, vice principals of IIS Jubail and Dammam.
Vijender, Adil, Amiruddin, Sawad, Irfan, Raghib Ali, Sadiq Ali, Sajjad, Israr, Riyazuddin, Rahmat and Parvez were the Scout masters who managed the camp. Boy Scouts Yuvaraj and Hamza from IIS Dammam and Boy Scout Zaid from IIS Jubail participated under the category of Special Needs Children. The camp officials thankfully acknowledged the support and sponsorship from LuLu Saudi Hyper Markets, Alkhobar, Grand Mart Hyper, Dammam, and Saudi Leather Company. Ambulance services with paramedical support were provided by Badr Al-Rabie Medical Group, Dammam, Dar Assihha Medical Center, Dammam, and Safa Makkah Clinic, Dammam. — SG
