Asif, Abdullah, Fahad and Zubair shine in WPCA

JEDDAH — Asif Malik (century), Abdullah (5 wickets), Fahad (5 wickets) and Zubair (5 wickets) stole the show in the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) Morning Championship here recently.
Universal-XI beat Cousin-XI by 9 wickets. Cousin-XI posted 145-6 as Irfan hit 55 in 26 balls, Khurram made 36 not out and Arshed 20 not out.
Ahsan took 2 wickets. Universal-XI reached 146-1 in 84 balls. Asif Malik blasted exactly 100 in 55 balls studded with 5 sixes and 7 fours and Adnan remained unbeaten on 34.
The duo added 144 runs in 83 balls for the opening stand. Mercedes Benz won against Emper Perfumes by 6 wickets.
Mercedes Benz achieved the winning target of 161 in 97 balls. Ilyas scored 25. Amir remained unbeaten on 60 off 37 balls.
He was involved in a match-winning partnership of 94 in 53 balls for the fifth wicket with Shafeeq (22).
SFCC defeated Gujarat Eagles by one wicket. Gujarat Eagles posted 131-6. Khutub smashed 70 in 56 balls with one six and 7 fours.
Ziad Taiyyab took 3-26 and Kareem 2. SFCC reached 136-9 in 98 balls as Arsalan made 26, Ziad 25 and Taiyyab 19. Nawaz took 3-14.
Stallions won against Deloitte by 7 wickets. Deloitte put on 132-8, thanks to Irfan who top scored with 58 in 42 balls.
Adnan made 25. Jawwad claimed 3-19 and Arsalan 2. Stallions, in chase, got to the target (133-3) in 87 balls with Usman hammering 49, Hassan an unbeaten 37 and Abdulrehman 15.
Jeddah Challengers won against Haneefa Tigers by 5 wickets. Jeddah Challengers achieved the winning target of 154-5 in 103 balls as Ahram hammered 85 in 52 balls with 9 fours and a six, Omer 21 and Rizwan 20. Kudrat took 2 wickets.
Harsco Baroom humbled Al-Mazroi by 39 runs. Harsco Baroom piled up 154-8. Hasanat hit 67 in 42 balls and Imran Nasir compiled 33.
They added 85 runs in 55 balls. From 127-1 the team crumbled to 154-8 as Abdullah sliced through with 5-14.
Al-Mazroi chasing a moderate target was bundled out for 115 against fine bowling by Fahad who grabbed 5-17 and fast bowler Naveed Sulehria 4-19.
Skipper Sufiyan and Asif made identical 21. Tata Motors beat Jeddah Royals by 42 runs. Tata Motors piled up 171-4 through Irfan Qureshi (31), Noor (33), Azeem (35 n.o.) and Faisal (25 n.o.).
Tahir took 2 wickets. Jeddah Royals in response could make only 129-9. Yasin top scored with 37, Azhar 26 and Sagheem 18. Irfan Qureshi claimed 4-13 and Syed 2.
Zamil Cool Care won against Indian Knight Riders by 7 runs. Zamil Cool Care posted 109-5 with Abid making 68 not out in 57 balls with 7 hits to the ropes.
Ayyub scalped 3-17. Indian Knight Riders, in chase, was restricted to 102-8. Rayees bowled well to take 4-25 and Madhushan 2. Safi hit 28 and Nadeem 23.
In the last match of the day, Sadafco trounced ADI-XI by 4 wickets. ADI-XI was bundled out for 122 after the openers gave a good start with Ahmed scoring 39 and Adil 35.
But once the openers were back in the pavilion it fell like nine pins as Zubair grabbed 5-25 and Muneer 4-25. Sadafco, in reply, took 91 balls to get to 125-6 as Khurram scored 22, J. Zubair unbeaten 28, and Ali 21. Azeem claimed 2 wickets.
