DAMMAM — The 100 days spent on the chair as a King of Saudi Arabia are clear indications that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman is a man of wisdom and political acumen, according to Issa Al-Ghaith, a Shoura Council member who is also a member of the council's committee on security affairs. “This half a century's experience in government service has enabled King Salman to discharge his royal duties with dexterity and professionalism,” he said. Al-Ghaith said since the very first day on the throne, King Salman has proved that he was quite prepared to take over the reins of the leadership with complete accuracy and total transparency. He noted that it was a common custom for the kings, ministers and senior officials to start discharging their responsibilities with such ambiguous words as: “I will consider, I will review, I will take notice.” “King Salman has not fallen into this trap. He took immediate and stern decisions. He has quickly settled a number of political, economic and social issues,” he said. Al-Ghaith mentioned as an instance of the King's decisions the Decisive Storm operation in Yemen against the Houthis and the forces of deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh. He said after 27 days only King Salman announced the end of the Saudi-led Arab coalition war, replacing it with the “Restoration of Hope” operation to bring peace and political stability to the war-torn neighboring country. “Such decisions will only be made by a wise, decisive and a strong man,” he added. Al-Ghaith said King Salman's internal political, economic, social, development and service decisions have led to immense gains for the Kingdom and its people. “There are indications that we are in for a comprehensive development revolution that has started with a gradual change in rule and witnessed the incoming of young elements to lead political action in the Kingdom,” he said. Al-Ghaith particularly lauded the appointment of Prince Muhammad Bin Naif as crown prince and Prince Muhammad Bin Salman as deputy crown prince and said the transition of power from the sons of founder King Abdul Aziz to his grandchildren was smooth. “This change has not been made in any other country in such a manner before. It has come as a manifestation of the Kingdom's political stability,” he added. The council member expected more decisions and royal decrees to come to further augment the Kingdom's prosperity and political stability.
