Giordano, the global apparel retailer and one of the top five clothing brands in the world with 100 stores across Saudi Arabia, celebrated 20 years of business in Jeddah on Sunday. Many prominent businessmen like as well as personalities from the corporate world attended the celebrations. Sheikh Hani Abdul Aziz Saab, chairman of the Board, Textile and Garments Co. that operates Giordano Saudi Arabia, welcomed all the guests. In his opening speech he said: “Today I feel happy celebrating 20 years of Giordano in the Kingdom. “I still remember the day we opened our store at the Al-Faisalia Mall in Al-Balad, Jeddah in 1995. “In 1995 we had only three outlets. “Today, I feel proud to say that in 20 years we expanded our business and today we have more than 100 Giordano outlets all over the Kingdom. “It is a memorable and historic day for me. He said at the event the company would honor the 20 best employees who have worked hard to expand Giordano, calling them “part of the success of our business.” He said the company had a vision to expand to more than 1,000 outlets in the next five years. “As we reach two decades, we further reiterate our commitment to the Saudi Arabian market.” He said Giordano recently held an apparel design competition to encourage local talent and the two best entries were from students of Dar Al-Hekma University. Their designs are now being incorporated into Giordano's product range. Ishwar Chugani, managing director of Giordano Middle East and executive director of Giordano International, said: “Giordano started in 1981 and today globally, Giordano operates 2,400 stores in 30 countries and Saudi Arabia is the fastest growing country. “The key to our success is the quality, knowledge, innovation, simple, clean and comfortable design, quality workmanship and knowledgeable customer service. “Reaching 20 years in Saudi Arabia is a great milestone for Giordano.” He said most Giordano customers were Saudis. “Our products have stood the test of time and have evolved accordingly. “The brand is stronger than ever, thanks to the support of our loyal customer. “With their continued patronage Giordano Saudi Arabia is our largest market in the region and we are looking to sustain our growth.” A documentary video about the history of Giordano in Saudi Arabia was showcased and after that the 20 employees named the best in the business were honored with appreciation plaques and mementos presented by Sheikh Hani and Chugani. M.A.K. Jeelani, regional director and Ahmedullah, general manager, were also presented with mementos of appreciation. In turn, they also presented mementos to Sheikh Hani and Chugani. Jeelani and Ahmedullah thanked Sheikh Hani and Chugani to have trust in them. The program ended with a fashion show showcasing different garments from the Giordano brand.
