JEDDAH — Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), Dubai's integrated free zone technology park, on Monday received the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award 2014 for its continued commitment to shaping the careers of employees within the entity. Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice Chairman and CEO of DSOA, received the award from Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai at a ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. On receiving the government recognition, Dr Alzarooni said: “In line with the Dubai Human Development Award, and in accordance with Dubai Plan 2021, the DSOA 2021 Strategy aims to establish a proactive and resilient society that includes happy, productive and innovative employees always performing to the best of their ability. Our HR department has taken this responsibility very seriously and launched a series of internal initiatives such as the Happiest People program, which is now developed into one of the pillars of our 2021 Strategy. Our staff members are equally keen to grow their careers and advance their skill sets to achieve the wider goals set by the organization.” He added: “We are proud to receive this prestigious award and be considered a role model in the HR development field. During the past year, we have actively reached out to dedicated employees and rewarded their commitment and achievements.” The Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA) is pioneering initiative by the Department of Economic Development in Dubai. Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2002, the award seeks to recognize and reward best HR initiatives implemented by individual businesses towards achieving the overall Dubai Human Development goal.
