JEDDAH — Young Star Cricket Club beat beating EFS KKR by 9 runs to claim the 2015 TCF Jotun Champions Trophy powered by FSN here recently. Young Star captain Rafaqat won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Aamir Sidique blasted 33 off 13 balls. EFS KKR bowlers, however, bounced back in the middle overs to put Young Star under pressure. Young Star posted a fighting total of 124 for 7 wickets in 12 overs. Afthab scored 21, while Jahangir took 2-26. In reply, EFS KKR lost its hard-hitting opener Shamsuddin in the first over and Masood added further pressure with his brilliant bowling. Even though KKR lost wickets regularly, it maintained a good run rate. The last pair of Shajahan and Shafeeq gave the team hope with sixes and fours, but fell short of the target. Danny Antony and Usman Amjad scored 14 runs each. Masood was awarded Man of the Final for his magical spell of 6 for 14 runs in 3 overs. Earlier in the first semifinal, Young Star beat defending champion Dazzle Super Kings by 40 runs. Aamir Sidique blasted 90 for Young Star. In second semifinal EFS KKR downed My Own Challengers by 50 runs. Humayun was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance. Top 16 teams of Jeddah took part in the tape ball tournament, played for the seventh straight year and conducted under lights. Jotun's Legal Affairs Manager Hussain Fakheih was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
