Abdul Khader Mochery JEDDAH — The 7th TCF cricket tournament for Bupa Champions Trophy was off to a colorful start at the BMT ground here recently. After an impressive march-past of the 16 participating teams, accompanied by TCF kids, chief guest Pranav Ganesh, Indian consul (consular), hit the ceremonial ball delivered by Najib Erraiss, chairman of Pullman Al-Hamra Jeddah Hotel, officially inaugurating the tournament. TCF ex-president Anwar Sadath VP welcomed the gathering during the opening ceremony which was graced by OICC ex-president Majeed Naha, Jotun Product Manager Syed Muzakir Bukhari, JCI President Ijas Khan, TMWA President Salim VP, JSC chief coach Saleem PR, LG Business Development Manager Latheef Nadukandy, Pack Plus General Manager Mohan Balan, Basheer of EFS Cargo and ISF representative Rafi. The tournament is mainly sponsored by Jotun Paints. The co-sponsors are FSN (Faisal S. Al-Naimi Est.), Air Arabia, Al-Shamasi Contracting, Kool Dezign, Arcoma Equipments, Tires and Lubricants and Pullman Hotel and Resorts. Ajwa Ford Royals team was adjudged the best team during the march-past and the award was presented by Najib Erraiss. In the inaugural match, defending champion Dazzle Super Kings beat ATS Raisco by 67 runs. Samiulla, who blasted 35, was named man of the match. In the second match, My Own Challengers downed Jotun Penguins by 21 runs. Man of the match was Shahabas who scored 36 and took 4 wickets. In the third match, Young Star thrashed last year's runner-up Target Guys by 41 runs. Afthab, who topscored with 78, was selected as man of the match. In the final encounter of the day, Ajwa Ford Royals routed Arcoma ETL by 45 runs. Thousif, who scored 32 and took 4 wickets, won the man of the match award.
