The Book Creator app is for Apple or Android tablet computers.
More than 10 million ebooks have been created with Book Creator. It's a simple way for students to make ebooks on their tablet computers. With Book Creator, students can use text, images, video, music and narration to tell their stories. The app works with Apple or Android tablets. In 2015, Book Creator was honored as a BETT Award winner for Best Educational App. The first book that's made with the Book Creator Free app costs nothing. After that the price is $2.49 for Android or $4.99 for Apple to upgrade the free app to make as many books as you like – no further payments needed.
With Book Creator, children as young as four years old can put together their own books. Make storybooks, picture books, photo books, diaries and even “how to” books. Children can make their books alone or the whole family can work together to make a book. At some schools, students make their ebooks in class to share what they have learned with others. While the books must be created on a tablet computer, they can be shared and then read on a smartphone. Children can become publishers with Book Creator.
Books that kids make can be sold in Apple's iBooks Store or on Google Play.
So many different kinds of books have been made with Book Creator. For example, in Saskatchewan, Canada, over a four month period of time, students from a Grade 2 class and other students from a Grade 11 class co-created a digital book titled, “My Pet Monster.” The book was a story about what a pet monster might be like. The book began in the imaginations of the Grade 2 class and the images that the young students drew were improved on by Grade 11 graphic arts students. My Pet Monster is available for free in the iBooks Store. Do check it out at https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/my-pet-monster/id960017384?ls=1&mt=11
