Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The United Nations has praised the Kingdom for its humanitarian efforts in Yemen where the Houthi militias are targeting civilian homes and taking cover in residential areas. A letter of praise was handed over to Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, minister of defense, chief of the Royal Court, and special adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, by UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom Ashok Nigam, Al Arabiya news channel reported. During the meeting, Nigam thanked Prince Muhammad for the quick response and help to evacuate UN staff from Yemen. Nigam said the evacuation of the UN staff helped save more than 100 international employees. The UN official also said the opening of Yemeni airspace to UN missions has helped them carry out humanitarian work. Last week, dozens of foreign diplomats and UN workers were evacuated from Yemen by the Saudi Arabian navy. Addressing a daily press briefing on on Monday, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Asiri, spokesperson of the coalition forces and adviser at the office of the minister of defense, said that a total of 11 Red Cross officials were evacuated by the Saudi-led coalition forces from Yemen on Monday and more personnel will be evacuated in the coming days. “The coalition forces will facilitate evacuation of more nationals from Yemen. We will positively respond to the initiative of countries like India, Pakistan and China to evacuate their citizens through the sea,” he said. The coalition forces command has formed a committee and assigned a hotline to expedite and organize the process for humanitarian work in Yemen through recognized humanitarian organizations. Asiri said humanitarian aspect was one of the most important responsibilities of the coalition forces. The coalition command from the very first day asked all authorities to contact working teams and official authorities in Saudi Arabia and alliance countries to facilitate the procedure for evacuation and relief work.
