RIYADH — The Council of Ministers on Monday reiterated that Saudi Arabia does not advocate war and the “Operation Decisive Storm” was launched to help a neighboring country and its oppressed people following an appeal made by its legitimate leadership.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace here, also thanked the Yemeni community living in the Kingdom for their support to the Saudi-led military operation to defend the legitimacy in Yemen.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet noted that the coalition, which was formed to defend legitimacy in Yemen, has enjoyed extensive blessing and comprehensive support from the Arab and Islamic Ummah as well as the international community because of its swift response to the appeal of Yemen's legitimate leadership.
The Cabinet commended the outcome of the third international donors' conference in Kuwait to support the humanitarian situation in Syria, noting the Kingdom's total aid to the Syrian people since 2011 amounted to more than $600 million.
The Cabinet also welcomed the formal announcement on Palestine's accession to the International Criminal Court as a full member, stressing that the accession would strengthen Palestine's presence in the international arena to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people.
Reviewing the framework agreement reached between major world powers and Iran over its nuclear program, the Cabinet hoped that a final, binding and definitive agreement would be reached leading to the strengthening of security and stability in the region and the world.
The Cabinet supported the right of states in the region for peaceful use of nuclear energy, and stressed that the promotion of security and stability in the region requires a commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and respect of their sovereignty.
Regarding uncultivated and illegally possessed plots of land, the Cabinet approved a number of regulations. According to this, the Ministry of Agriculture will make within three years an inventory of decisions regarding the distribution of uncultivated plots of land.
Status of agricultural land made arable before the issuance of a Royal decree in 1423 will be corrected.
The Cabinet also approved the cosmetics products law. Under the law, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority shall issue technical regulations and standard classifications of cosmetics products, their factories and the requirements of their employees. The authority shall specify the prohibited materials and unrestricted materials for use in cosmetics products, and publish them on its website. The authority shall make sure that the cosmetics products are matching the technical regulations and standard classifications as well as the requirements approved by it.
