I am writing with regard to the article "The imams of the Grand Mosque can unite Muslims around the world" (Apr. 3). Today political and sectarian conflicts are a great danger to the peace and security of Arab countries. It is time to end the conflicts and to unite the Muslim Ummah. The three imams of Grand Mosque may perform a great role in this concern. May Allah guide us to the Straight Path. Dr Noorul Hasan, Online response Muslims are already united under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and that is why they come to Saudi Arabia for the annual Haj pilgrimage. Every year, the Kingdom has the chance to communicate with two million Muslims from around the world. Let us give them a good impression and help maintain the spirit of unity. Yes, the imams of the Grand Mosque have a leading role to play in uniting Muslims around the world even after the Haj pilgrimage. Ashref, Online response It is true that the imams of the Grand Mosque can play a vital role in uniting the Muslim Ummah. Unfortunately, Muslims all over the world are divided into different sects which often leads to sectarian violence in Muslims countries resulting in the death of Muslims. Imams of the Grand Mosque being the most respected can play a vital role in conducting seminars and symposiums with the leaders of different sects in Muslim countries. Although it will not be easy to bring everyone together, an effort must be made to do so and there is no alternative to holding seminars with the leaders of different sects.
