Mobily supports Down Syndrome campaign
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 03 - 2015

ETIHAD Etisalat (Mobily) interacted with the World Day of Down syndrome by sending awareness SMSs to its subscribers in cooperation with the Down Syndrome Charity Association (DSCA), in a move to aware people with this syndrome, and those who suffer from it, especially children, and how to integrate them into society as an important part of it.
Mobily's initiative emerged from its belief that social responsibility is a broad concept that carries a human dimension felt by everyone in the community towards his homeland, and the adoption of this concept will enhance the coherence and cohesion in the society. Moreover Mobily puts within its priorities the support of programs implemented by charity associations in the Kingdom which directly affect certain segments that deserve the most attention in order to be able to realize their role in the development of society.
The Down Syndrome Association Society (DSCA) aims through this World Day last Saturday (March 21 to publicize the awareness and communication with the public, and from this perspective it has been publicizing the World Day of Down syndrome in a symbolic manner to commensurate with the nature of the case. On this basis the date 21 was chosen for compatibility digitally with chromosome 21, that disrupts the course of growth and lead consequently to limitations in the ability to learn. March is the third month of the year symbolizes the trisomy which occurs in the chromosome.
Presently, (DSCA) Charity Association is providing education and training for children with Down's syndrome since the early intervention stage. It is also considered as a liaison between the families and the public sector and private schools to transfer children from the stage of early intervention into education and training program in addition to the establishing of a national training center for the training of trainers and teachers and to qualify them in the areas and conditions associated with Down syndrome. Mobily has contributed earlier in similar awareness campaigns through sending free awareness SMSs to its subscribers in coordination with a number of governmental departments and charities.
Previously, Mobily in cooperation with Al Hilal Club, hosted the children of the Down Syndrome Charity Association within “ Our Humanitarian Obligation Program" which was held at Al Hilal Store in the presence of a number of Al Hilal Club stars, where the children took memorial pictures with the players and received a number of gifts. — SG
