ALKHOBAR — The Urdu Toastmasters Club of the Eastern Province organized its contest at Gulf Darbar Restaurant in Al-Khobar Friday.
The contests were held for all the categories, including International speeches, Table Topics Speeches, Humorous Speeches and Evaluation Speeches.
Members of other toastmasters clubs in the region and guests had a wonderful evening as speaker after speaker regaled them with their oratory skills and inspirational stories.
Toastmaster Safi Hyder Jannaty, who is serving as the president of the club, was adjudged the first place winner in international and evaluation speech contests while he stood second in the humorous speech contest.
TM Syed Mansour Shah won the first place in table topics category and stood third in the evaluation speech contest.
TM Mohammed Saleem was adjudged winner in the humorous speech category and third place winner in the international speech contest.
TM Mohammed Asgharuddin won second prize in three categories, namely, international, table topics and evaluation speech contests whereas TM Sardar Sharieff was declared third place winner in table topics speech contest.
The first place winners in all of the four categories of the speech contests will now participate in Area 25 Annual Speech Contests that will be held on February 6 at Classic Restaurants, Al Khobar.
The event was attended by Division F Governor, DTM Abdul Ghafoor and Area 25 Governor, TM Nayeem Javed, who both, highlighted the importance of Toastmasters and how it helps members in improving their public speaking skills.
TM Nayeem Javed focused on promotion of Urdu language and urged Urdu lovers to come forward in learning and enhancing their literary skills.
The event was anchored by ace Toastmaster Zia ur Rahman Siddiqui, who is serving as the vice president (Education and Training) of the Club. Another experienced Toastmaster, Naseem Shehri, was the chief judge of the contest and was assisted by a panel of seven judges drawn from various toastmasters club in the region.
Urdu Toastmasters Club is the first Urdu language club in the world and following it, several other clubs have been founded and it has helped many such clubs by providing Urdu language material which it has developed. Toastmasters International is an organization which provides a platform to enhance public speaking skills in a friendly atmosphere. There are more than 292,000 members and over 14,350 toastmasters clubs in 122 countries. After being declared a separate District, the popularity of Toastmasters is growing in Saudi Arabia.
