MADINAH — The body of Talal Al-Johani, a 19-year-old Saudi student who was found dead in his flat in Chicago last Sunday, was flown to Madinah on Saturday for burial. The funeral will take place after the completion of an autopsy as demanded by his family, reported a section of the Arabic press on Sunday. The motive behind Al-Johani's murder is still not clear. Al-Johani died of stab wounds to his stomach. The police said the murderer was one of Al-Johani's relatives and was caught two days later near the home of his fiancée's brother on Harding Street in Cook County. The police said the murderer admitted to his crime and has been kept in custody pending trial. They also said they found the knife which he used to kill Al-Johani. According to the police, a neighbor heard two people quarreling at 4 a.m. When he went to Al-Johani's flat to enquire about what was happening, the criminal told him that he was in the bathroom. However, when the neighbor looked into the bathroom, he found its door open and no body inside. He immediately called the police who found Al-Johani lying in a pool of blood. The murderer fled the scene of the crime but when the police apprehended him they found traces of blood on his clothes. The reports said the neighbor was a Somali student who used to pray with Al-Johani in the same mosque near their building. The police said they also found Al-Johani's cell phone and the wallet at the apartment of the brother of the murderer's fiancée.
