Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Kerala Engineers Forum (KEF), a platform for Keralite engineers residing in Jeddah, recently conducted a seminar on “Homes to the future.” KEF President Sree Ram Kumar of King Abdul Aziz University presented a paper on “Solar Energy: an alternative power source” while R.P. Mohamed Kunhi of Abdul Latif Jamil Company presented a paper on “Affordable homes”. In his presentation, Sree Ram Kumar argued that the power crisis could well be overcome by effectively utilizing solar energy as an alternative power source. Mohamed Kunhi, in his presentation, shed light on the ways to construct a home exactly meeting one's needs with the cost effective methods and at the same time maintaining the quality. Leaders of various Keralite organizations also spoke. Question and Answer session followed the presentations. A panel consisting of Sree Ram Kumar, Mohamed Kunhi, Biju T Chacko, Abdul Hameed and, Abdul Rasheed answered the questions. Shoukath Ali of King Abdul Aziz University, patron of KEF, launched KEF Consultancy Cell, which aims at assisting Keralites in engineering related issues.
