615 weapons seized in Jazan in 2014

JAZAN — The police seized 615 weapons and 49,044 rounds of ammunition and arrested 659 arms smugglers last year. Jazan Police spokesman Khalid Bin Qaziz said over the same period officers seized nine grenades, 244 fireworks and three barrels of gunpowder. The police also seized more than 187 tons of the narcotic qat, more than 1.4 tons of hashish, 999 amphetamine pills, 114 whiskey bottles and 1,851 containers of alcohol. The police arrested a total of 2,813 smugglers in connection with 686 different cases and seized a total of SR90,307.
