Mir Mohsin Ali JEDDAH — At the 10th annual day celebration of Daratassalam International Delhi Public School, chief guest and Bollywood actor Shatragun Sinha told students to gain knowledge from books and teachers who are the role models of the society. Sinha, who was impressed to witness the people of his motherland excelling in different arena's of life in the Kingdom, praised the school management for providing high standards of education in well equipped infrastructure. The veteran actor urged students not to lose their uniqueness by quoting, “prove yourself better than the best otherwise prove yourself different from the rest but never ever lose your originality and individuality.” Sinha said that has inculcated the very same values in his children, including his daughter, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha. He also emphasized on caring about one's health, as “health is the wealth of the nation,” and say no to drugs. This event was attended by the large number of parents, other schools principals and community members, in addition to Dr.Hifzur Rahman, second Secretary of the Indian Embassy. Earlier, principal of the DPS Mairaj Mohammed Khan presented a report card of the school, highlighting the many laurels brought to the school by its students in different fields of academics and co-curricular activities. Dr.Nadeem Tarin, managing director; Kursheed Shah, financial director, and Mairaj Mohammed Khan, principal, presented memento to Sinha. The grand event started with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an followed by its translation in English. The melodious art and cultural performances by the school students were spectacular; it included a welcome song by “Little Angels,” a a series of Indian Classical dance “Nityanjili,” Arabic dances, soccer dance, Japanese fan dance, choral speaking – Our School and Mime – College Days, fashion trends in Bollywood (1960 – 2015) and an opera (Story of a King), among others. The Islamic Nasheed “Ya Taiba” also received much accolade. The performances were appreciated by Sinha and the audience. The program concluded by the rendition of national anthems of both Saudi Arabia and India. The school is managed by Daratassalam International School and headed by a Saudi academician Ibrahim H. Al-Quayid as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. — SG
