I am writing with regard to the article "Why did little Ghayda cry?" (Feb. 13). A problem is that we do not come to our own conclusions anymore. We grow up being told "follow these rules, obey, do what religious leaders or teachers or rich men tell you." We see injustice but are told: "It is destiny!" We see corruption and are told: "If you question the leader you are insulting Islam." We are beaten by a husband and told: "He is master; just obey him!" There will be no progress until people use their minds for more than the cowardly route of irresponsible obedience. Somaia, Online response
