JEDDAH — A mosque muezzin (prayer caller) has built a building on a public park three years ago that still has not been dealt with by the Jeddah Municipality, Al-Watan reported. Three years have passed since local authorities ordered that the building located in the Al-Nuzha District should be removed. However, nothing has been done since. A source told Al-Watan the muezzin encroached on the land and constructed a building and even connected its power and water to the mosque's supply. The representative of the owner of the Al-Nuzha Plot where the building is located, Fuad Qarnabeesh, said the mosque was built with charity money and there was an empty land near the mosque allocated to a public park. “The neighborhood residents filed a complaint against the Saudi muezzin with Jeddah Police and the complaint was sent to the Emir's Office,” Qarnabeesh said. A committee studied the complaint and orders were issued by the Jeddah governor to remove the building, he continued. Jeddah Municipality was entrusted with the task of removing the encroachment three years ago. However, the municipality has not taken any action yet.
