Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — The Jeddah municipality is working on a project to level hilly areas surrounding Jeddah and turn them over for possible land grants, Al-Hayat daily reported. The properties will be provided with the necessary utility services and will be linked to public transport networks that will be implemented in the future. A source said the project comes in line with the strategic development plan of the governorate. He added that the plots will be ready once the current structures built illegally on the land have been demolished and removed. One of the complaints citizens make about land grants is that the plots are usually located away from the city and they lack utility services. They are not deemed suitable for building homes. The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has stopped granting citizens any land in areas that do not have basic infrastructure services, the source noted.
