RIYADH — A Saudi convicted of shooting dead an anti-drug patrol was executed in the Kingdom on Thursday, the Interior Ministry announced. Hussein Mitrak Al-Dawsari was put to the sword in the Riyadh region for shooting dead Salim Mesfer Al-Qahtani who was trying to arrest him, the ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. Al-Dawsari was arrested immediately after the attack and he admitted to the murder during interrogation. His execution was put on hold until the heirs of the dead officer reached adulthood. The sentence was endorsed by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Malik Bin Said Al-Sayaari was executed in Al-Ahsa, Eastern Province, after a repeat conviction for hashish smuggling, the ministry said.
