RIYADH — The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) has helped a woman who was being blackmailed by a man who had taken SR300,000 of her money and was demanding more. The official spokesman of the Hai'a Turki Al-Shalil said the victim contacted her offender on a social networking website after she thought he was a girl. The offender pretended to be a beauty expert and dermatologist. He tricked the woman into sending a picture of herself so he could determine the best therapy for her skin. Once she sent a picture of herself, he revealed himself and began blackmailing her. The Haia arrested the man after tracking him down and discovering that he had use the same ruse to trap several other victims, said Al-Shalil.
