Hussain belts YWC's first ton, Zubair first hat trick

RIYADH — Centuries by Hussain, Rauf and Gibson and a hat trick by Zubair were the highlights of the second matchday of Youm Al-Watani Cup (YWC) 2014 here recently.

Roiya's Jeddah Jockeys, Delta Taif Tigers, Infrability Saudi Gems and HS Dammam Fighters scored their first wins in the tournament organized by GK international Indian Sports.

In the first match, Delta Taif Tigers beat Dynamic Hail Heroes by 101 runs. Opting to bat first, Taif scored 267-4 with Pradeep hitting 81 (23 balls - 6x11, 4x2), Ejaz 75 (27 - 6x7, 4x5), Junaid 53 (20 - 6x3, 4x7). Hail was all out for 166 with Riaz making 42, Atif 31 and Basheer 20. Ejaz claimed 3-34 and Raja 3-48. Man of the Match: Ejaz.

The second match saw Alwan Arab Royals down DMT Tabuk Titans by 67 runs for their second win. Alwan put on 230-7 thanks to an unbeaten century (133 off 37 balls - 6x15, 4x8) by Hussain. Zakir added 29 (6x3, 4x1). Ali scalped 3-50 and Haseeb 2-30. In reply, Tabuk could reach only 163-9 in the allotted 16 overs. Mujahid hit 53 (32 - 6x3, 4x4) as Hussain picked 3-24 and Ismail 3-40. Hussain not only won the Man of the Match trophy, but also the week's Star of the Day honors, sponsored by Syed's group.

KDD Gizan Gladiators came out on top against Mash Khobar Knights by 7 wickets. Khobar, batting first, scored 240-3 in 16 overs. Rauf hit a fine 132, Prasanth 58 and Munna 29. Javid first claimed 2 wickets then hit 80 (31 - 6x9, 4x4) for Gizan. Tabrez added 60 as the team reached 245 for 3 with 4 balls to spare. Javid was named the Man of the Match.

Syeds Najd Najams earned its second victory with a 4-wicket win over Abad Jubail Jaguars. Opting to take the strike first, Jubail put on 178-6 as Rafeeq took 2 wickets. Najams reached 180-6 in 15 overs. Rafiq hit 51, Ghouse 31. Rafeeq claimed the Man of the Match honors.

In the fifth match, Infrability Saudi Gems defeated Wallan Najran Jewels by 53 runs. Waqas blasted 51 off 15 balls as Infrability put on 179-6. Zubair returned 4-39, including a hat trick. Wallan, in reply, was restricted to 125. Naveed was the top scorer with 36 as Aashraf added 31. Waqas was named Man of the Match.

Mumtaz Riyadh Ryders thrashed Mashal Abha Avians by 93 runs. Mumtaz scored 188-7. Arif with 61 and Sarfaraz with 42 were among the runs. Qadeer and Aknas took 2 wickets each. In reply, Abha was all out for 95. Nehal picked up 5-23 and Imran 2-14. Yasin scored 20. Arif was awarded Man of the Match.

The seventh match saw HS Dammam Fighters hand Mazayas Yanbu Warriors an 8-wicket thrashing. Yanbu scored 198-2 thanks to Gibson's brilliant century (113 off 50 balls) and Adnan's 79. But that could not stop Dammam from winning the match in in 11.5 overs. Man-of-the-Match Saeed hit 80 off 24 deliveries, Mustafa added 70 and Salim 30

The last match of the day saw Roiya's Jeddah Jockeys edge Mir' Saudi Stallion by 6 runs. Batting first, Roiya's scored 215-7 with Yousuf hitting 62 off 23 balls and Salam 27. Mir's kept up the chase till the last over when it fell short by six runs (209-6). Dilshad slammed 65 and Shajahan 27. Yousuf was the Man of the Match. — SG
