Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Noor Educational Society — Jeddah felicitated a renowned social worker and poet, Aleem Khan Falaki, on achieving his doctorate from Moulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad recently. The topic of his PhD research was “Status of Women in Islam and Her position in the Present Muslim Society.” Falaki shed some lights on his researched subject and thanked the society for arranging a program in his honor. The other speakers were chief patron and trustee Khak-e-Taiba Trust Shameem Kauser and Nayeem Basheer. President Noor Educational Society Mohammed Abbas Khan congratulated him, and stressed on unity among Muslims to cater to the need of underprivileged community members. The society also felicitated Aijaz Ahmed Khan and Sayed Khaja Viquaruddin on their appointment as overseas trustee of Khak-e-Taiba Trust Jeddah. Mohammed also praised the philanthropic qualities of the three men, stating that they leave no who leaves no stone turned to help the needy people. Aijaz, who is in the advisory board, praised Noor Educational Society's activities, and offered his full support in carrying out the community works. Viqaruddin also thanked and praised the society's activities and assured his support. Zaheeruddin Quadri presided over the function. He announced the newly elected body of Noor Educartional Society — chairman and chief patron as himself, president Mohammad Abbas Khan, vice president Mohammad Imdad Ali, general secretary Liaqat Ali Khan, treasurer Muhammad Munawer Khan. Liaqat spoke about the society's aims and objectives especially about society's program of helping the poor families who cannot afford the expenses of burial when their near ones die. He said: “The society will conduct elocutions, essay competitions, programs both in Jeddah and Hyderabad in future.” Liaqat anchored the ceremony. The program commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an followed by Naat.
