JEDDAH – Emir of Makkah region and Chairman of the Committee for Releasing Private Rights Prisoners in the region Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah has issued directives to pay the debts of prisoners detained in financial cases provided the committee's conditions apply to them. He said they should be released immediately to be able to spend the rest of the holy month of Ramadan with their families and relatives, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday. The Committee for Releasing Private Right Prisoners in Makkah Region started its work since early this month after the Emir directed it to study the cases it receives, implement the conditions of the committee and organizational bylaw and speed up the procedures. In the Saudi Shariah law, there are two types of legal action: Public rights are pursued by the State for violation of the public law, and the private rights action, similar to an American civil action, enables an individual to seek redressal in court.– SG
