Okaz/Saudi Gazette and SPA ABHA/JIZAN – As per the directives of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the General Administration for Prisons in Asir region has released more than 150 Saudi prisoners covered by the royal pardon from various jails since the start of the holy month of Ramadan. Jam'an Abu Habsha, Director of Public Relations and Information in Asir region's Prisons General Administration, said a committee is following up the list of prisoners covered by the royal pardon. “These prisoners benefited from the royal pardon. They were in prison for public rights after fulfilling the private rights,” Abu Habsha said. He added that several non-Saudi prisoners have benefited from the pardon and there is coordination with the Passports Department to deport them to their countries. Meanwhile, about 400 inmates have also been released from jails in Jizan region since the beginning of the month. Brig. Mohammed Bin Awad Qareen, Director of Prisons in the region, said that under the direct follow-up of Prince Mohammed Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Jizan region, efforts to release more than 200 prisoners during the next few days are under process. __
