With regard to the article “Making sense of women's rights in Saudi Arabia” (July 4), I understand and appreciate the author's concerns about the Saudi people. And, yes, change is going to happen. It is a universal truth. However, cultural aspects differ from one place to another. I understand that in some societies, it is only polite to look directly at whom you are talking to, but it is not the case here in Saudi Arabia between men and women. In fact, it might be interpreted as a serious offense to women and their families. I believe we have a lot more to deal with besides granting women the right to drive. Gathanfar, Online response
