With regard to the article “Build laws first and then values” (Jan. 23), it is true that in our arrogance, we have really lost the values of Islam. One of the main problems of society starts when Saudi women marry non-Saudi men. Their children are not given Saudi nationality and these women even lose their right to social insurance money because they married non-Saudi men. Well, they married a Muslim man and with the permission of the authorities, so why are they made to suffer later? Isn't everyone equal in Islam? Ann, Online response II. I disagree with the author of this article. Human values and societal culture are the basic foundations of any law. Laws are rooted in the core values, philosophy and belief systems of the people. Citizens follow the law because it is a reflection of their ideals, their ethics and their principles.
