This refers to the article “What is khulwa?” by Hassan Bin Salim (June 20), Khulwa is for a man and woman who are not related to each other and caught in seclusion. This is Allah's law and not man-made. However, there is a law of permissibility in Islam, wherein under certain circumstances it could be allowed. As for a woman being with a male doctor, it is part of medical ethics that there should be a nurse even if the woman is not a Muslim. The Qur'an and the Sunnah are clear on this. Let us fear Allah and follow what is right for our well being here and in the hereafter. Ismaeel Marikar, Online response II. Scholars, when they mention what is conidered as khulwa provide proofs from the Qur'an and the traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as understood and practiced by his companions. Unfortunately Westerner don't seem to understand this. Seeker, Online response III. A Malaysian friend once said that, in his country, if a man and a woman are in a private area, a woman can yell out “thankabasa” or something like that so that people nearby would come to them and demand that he marry her to protect her honor as they were in a kind of a khulwa situation and her dignity was somehow compromised.
